Dear Yuletide Writer,
First off, thank you for taking a look at this! Whether you're my assigned writer or just someone reading this due to a shared interest, thank you for taking the time to read this. I will gladly accept treats if anyone is so inspired!
I had lots of thoughts under Optional Details, but as they are of course optional, I want you to write a story that you can enjoy writing as much as I'll enjoy reading it, regardless of whether you take any inspiration from my starting ideas.
Some notes on relationships:
As three of my requested fandoms are queer romance series, if we're matched on any of those, I kind of assume you're okay with writing a relationship between the two main characters. The story doesn't have to be sappy-romantic or sexy, but the relationships and the queerness matter to me. For Lower Decks, slash is encouraged but of course optional.
General likes: Friendly banter/teasing, characters showing (in their own ways) how much they care about each other, characters loving to see their partner enjoy their weird special interest even if they don’t share it, family members being supportive, found family, hurt/comfort, characters worrying about/protecting/rescuing each other, underestimated characters being unexpectedly badass (whether with physical or with intellectual prowess), characters experiencing the joy/relief of overcoming a challenge or danger.
Smutty likes: Talking (praise kink, dirty talk, begging, generally vocalizing enthusiasm), mild Dom/sub (commands, light bondage), checking in (ie, confirming the other is still into it), switching things up/trying something new, crying from emotional intensity/overwhelm (in a positive way).
General Do Not Want:
Homophobia, transphobia, or racism by any of the protagonists. Rape/non-con. Graphic violence. Major character death (unless temporary). Non-canon unrequested romantic relationships. Breakup/relationship angst.

The Knight and the Necromancer - A. H. Lee
Sairis, Prince Roland
I would love something focusing on the romantic relationship between Sairis and Roland post-canon. I'd enjoy fluff and banter, or hurt/comfort, or smut, whatever most appeals to the author. What are the characters up to a few months, years, decades down the line? Do they have pets and/or kids? Does another serious conflict arise and require them to fight again?
Open to background characters from canon, especially Marsden, maybe something with Roland watching Sairis helping at the school. Or Daphne's wedding, or something with a group at the Tipsy Knave.
Crossover/fusion possibility if interested: Collared students at Marsden's school could be characters from the MCU such as Loki, Wanda, and Vision.
Prompt-specific Do Not Want:
Homophobia, transphobia, or racism by any of the protagonists.
Rape/non-con.
Graphic violence (canon-typical levels okay).
Major character death (reference to canon deaths okay).
AUs (prefer no significant canon divergence either).
Crossovers other than mentioned.
Non-canon unrequested romantic relationships.
Breakup/relationship angst (reference to canonical relationship angst okay).

The Doomsday Books - K.J. Charles
Joss Doomsday, Gareth Inglis
I'd love more of Joss and Gareth's relationship after the first book; before, during, and/or after the second. I think I'd also be interested to see these characters in an AU, as long as their personalities and dynamic are maintained, and .
Protectiveness is a big part of what I love about these characters. I love the more physical and infamous Joss Doomsday defending the dorkier Sir Gareth, and I also love Gareth being worried and protective over Joss.
I also enjoy both being protective of Luke... I kind of expected at least one shovel talk for Rufus in the second book, so feel free to do that missing scene if you'd like. (I imagine Gareth's shovel talk turning out scarier than Joss', to Rufus' surprise.) Or both Joss and Gareth being protective of Catherine and Cecy, or the younger generation of Doomsdays.
If that route doesn't appeal, fluff or smut also work. I particularly enjoy them falling back on calling each other "Kent" and "London" in smutty scenes.
Prompt-specific Do Not Want:
Homophobia, transphobia, or racism by any of the protagonists.
Rape/non-con.
Graphic violence (canon-typical levels okay).
Major character death (reference to canon deaths okay).
Non-canon unrequested romantic relationships.
Breakup/relationship angst (reference to canonical relationship angst okay).

Last Binding Series - Freya Marske
Edwin Courcey, Robin Blyth
I would love something focusing on the romantic relationship between Edwin and Robin. I'd enjoy fluff and banter, or hurt/comfort, or smut (bonus if that involves Edwin's magic!), whatever most appeals to the author.
While I'd definitely want Edwin and Robin, I also like all the other nominated characters, so feel free to include any or all of them. Maud introducing Violet to Robin and Edwin? Maud helping Edwin speak with Flora Sutton? Edwin (probably at Robin’s insistence) hosting a group meal at Sutton Cottage for everyone? But just focusing on Edwin and Robin is fine, too. :)
Optional neurodivergence headcanon: I see Edwin as likely autistic, though that would not have been a diagnosis in that time period. If you are neurodivergent yourself, feel free to lean into that reading if you would like.
Series Note: The third book (and probable conclusion) of the series will be released after Yuletide Signups close and over a month before finished works are due. I am open to the canon of that novel being either included or ignored.
[11/23/23 UPDATE: If you have read and want to incorporate the third book, A Power Unbound, see my spoilery comment on this post.]
Prompt-specific Do Not Want:
Homophobia, transphobia, or racism by any of the protagonists.
Rape/non-con.
Graphic violence (canon-typical levels okay).
Major character death (reference to canon deaths okay).
AUs (but canon divergence after the first or second book is okay).
Crossovers.
Non-canon unrequested romantic relationships (the focal relationship of the third book is okay even though it's not technically canon yet).
Breakup/relationship angst (reference to canonical angst/breakups okay).

Star Trek: Lower Decks
T'Lyn, D'Vana Tendi
I adore T'Lyn, the Vulcan who's "too emotional" for a Vulcan ship and too Vulcan for a Starfleet ship. I also love that despite the juxtaposition of her calm and reserved nature with Tendi's constant exuberance, T'Lyn is clearly fond of Tendi.
Relationship option: I ship them romantically. At the very least, I think T'Lyn might have a crush on Tendi without having realized it yet. I'd love to see something with that if it appeals to the author--T'Lyn realizing she has those feelings? Tendi helping T'Lyn convince herself it would be logical to attempt courtship? Parallel universe shenanigans where their alternates are already married and it gets them thinking? Silly tropes like "there was only one bed" or "stuck in a turbolift"? (I'd be more interested in Getting Together than Established Relationship, I think.)
If you're not into/inspired by that pairing, of course, just friends/colleagues/study buddies is totally fine. :)
I'm most interested in exploration of T'Lyn's character, so I would be okay with a story focusing on her, though still having Tendi mentioned or in the background would be good.
Open to side characters, especially groups such as T'Lyn and Tendi and:
...Rutherford, Mariner, and Boimler
...Mariner and Jennifer (double date?)
...T'Ana and Shaxs (probably something hilariously awkward XD)
Trek crossover options: References to other Star Trek series is a fun part of Lower Decks, and I'm cool with those being included. I haven't seen many of the newer series yet, though, so please keep any crossover characters/significant references limited to: TOS, TNG, DS9, Voyager, Prodigy.
[11/2/23 UPDATE: If you want to incorporate the end of season 4 which just aired, see my spoilery comment on this post.]
Prompt-specific Do Not Want:
Homophobia, transphobia, or racism by any of the protagonists.
Rape/non-con.
Graphic violence (...canonical violence is even a bit much for me here, despite being cartoon blood).
Permanent major character death (temporary okay, they can see the Koala XD).
Non-canon unrequested romantic relationships (also no romantic Tendi/Rutherford, in case that becomes canon at some point).
Breakup/relationship angst (pre-relationship pining is fine).
Thank you again! I hope you find some inspiration in our shared interests!
